Best Practices for Navigating from Overview to Detail Windows

Hi Bert,The easiest way to do so, is by not using and Info Window but a Secondary Window. Secondary Windows share their query with the calling Info Window, so they synchronize automatically.It is also possible to make an Info Window synchronize with another Info Window. Adding a default record when a another record is inserted

Dear Bert,As this is a Business Rule for your application, I would use a constraint. I formulated the Business Rule thus:"When some adds an aircraft type, a default aircraft type must be added if it is not yet available."From your SQL I assume that the primary key of Aircraft Patterns consists of the pattern ID and the version number.I also  assume you defined a relationship between Aircraft Types and Patterns, so Pattern ID and version number in Aircraft Types refer to the Patterns.Last I assume Aircraft ID completes the primary key of Aircraft Types.Because you wrote "When someone inserts a new record ..." I would make this constraint transitional:Fire on Insert: AlwaysFire on Delete: NeverFire on Update" Used columnsI quickly built a reference model. Hi Marc,The easiest way is to add an action to one of your release tasks that exports all application data for the Service Definer USERVICEYou may have to add USERVICE to the list of applications first (Define – Applications):Then you can add an action to a task of your choice, I named it "Back up Repository:It requires three parameters: Application, Database account and Destination folder.  I Used the predefined Source variable "${release}" to indicate the folder "${release}\appdata". You can also use a custom folder.When you run this action you will get an XML export with all definitions from the Service Definer.Regards,Robert

Updating interface components

Hi Marc,You asked about the toggling you use to see new methods in an interface. It's a feature: When you first turn an RDMI Component into an interface component, all methods of the component become interface methods. If you add a method to a component, the interface checkbox is not set automatically. You have to decide yourself if you want the method to be available in the interface.If you uncheck the Interface attribute of this component, the methods can no longer be part of an interface, so they are unchecked as well. If you check the Interface attribute of the component after that, all methods are added to the interface.See the checkboxes on the image below.A new method on a component that is part of the interfaceIf you check the checkbox at the level of the method, you don't have to toggle and the method will be available in new conceptual files.About the second question, not being able to use an RDMI component defined in another module is a bug. Execute UDeliver rules service script in UBelndIt

Hi Marc,Your issue is with the Rules Engine. The Rules engine only accepts one statement at a time.The Rules engine does accept XML or JSON documents with multiple rows, but I assume your SQL statements use conditions.The Delivery Manager delivers a default deploy script for Data Definition Language. That script calls other tools in order to perform multiple statements. Is that a solution you could use? Regards,Robert

Delete from SQL Server without UPDLOCK

Hi Marc,When data is manipulated in a USoft application the USoft Rules engine must check a number of things. In case of a delete statement this mainly concerns referential integrity and whether business rules (constraints) apply. To do so, the Rules engine creates a kind of cursor using the "select ... with holdlock" statement that you mentioned.In your case, no extra work is involved for the Rules Engine, so a set manipulation could be used. Three settings in USoft 10.1 determine whether the Rules Engine can use set manipulations.The first is a Rules engine parameter that you can find in the USoft Definer:  ALLOW_SET_MANIPULATIONSDefiner Rules Engine parametersYou can find the description of this parameter at: Community: Allow Set ManipulationsIt shows ten cases when a set manipulation is not possible. In your case none of them apply.The second setting is a deployment configuration in the USoft Authorizer: Allow_disable_constraint. This is relevant if you use a Rules Service for your

SQL Server "Connection is busy with results for another command"

Hi Marc,USoft does not support MARS. As you probably read, MARS is not enabled by default and you cannot specify: "MultipleActiveResultSets=true;" in the USoft database connection string.The USoft Rules service spawns threads that you know as Rules Engines.Every Rules Engine has (needs) a dedicated connection to the database server.So we do use multiple connections. A Rules engine processes one statement at a time. It will not accept new statements until the previous call completed.Therefor the error message you get is an enigma. How can a Rules Service put so much stress on a SQL Server instance that SQL Server will throw this error?May I suggest you create a Support ticket, so we can investigate this with you?Regards,Robert

Datetimestamp in milliseconds

Hi Dennis,As stated before by our Customer service desk, USoft does not yet support data types like datetime2 and datetimeoffset. Yet you can retrieve milliseconds using RDMI and store them in a column of data type varchar(24) or nvarchar(24).From the description of your issue I assume humans will not change the timestamp. They will only want to look at it (and maybe use it for sorting). That would be a prerequisite to make the workaround below reliable.In the USoft Definer:- Create a domain with data type nvarchar(24)    Do not(!) add an IO format to the domain.- Create a domain constraint that fills columns based upon the domain with:    convert( nvarchar(24), rdbms.getutcdate(), 127 ) || 'Z'e.g. when the column is empty (see image).If you define columns on this domain, inserting rows will give you a string like the output below:        2022-11-09T14:16:49.307ZThe thought behind adding the "Z" is that it makes presenting the timestamps in any timezone easier. Hi Marc,USoft has an off-the-shelf component OTS_WIN_PORT_INFO that returns information about port numbers.When you import this component, it will add a component table too.To find the Port number of your Rulesservice, you need its Process ID. 'Reuse Sockets' option in Service Definer Connection

Hi Marc,In an environment where USoft applications were communicating heavily with an enterprise service bus, we always added the DWord “TcpTimedWaitDelay” to the registry key you mentioned for each Windows server:TcpTimedWaitDelay: 0x1E (30 seconds)This reduces the time a socket is kept open.
